Drogheda, Ireland, 1864. Ellen Cooney is fit to burst with happiness. Her sailor husband is on his way home from a long sea voyage. But devastation awaits on the quayside of her beloved Drogheda. However, it seems that circumstances, and an unimaginably malign force may drive her to make the biggest mistake of her life. Options are few for a woman in such a man’s world. Are the rest of Ellen’s days to be blighted by the choice she had to make? Peggy, Nicholas, Larry, who can she trust? Can she find the strength and means to calm the turbulent tide of her life and navigate her way to happiness? It’s time for her to take control. This is Ellen’s story.

A Riveting Tale of Love, Loss, and Resilience. The newly published novel ‘As The Tide Turns at Tredagh’ is an absolute triumph, weaving an engrossing tale set in late 1800s Drogheda, my hometown. The story of a young woman navigating a life marked by profound struggles, heart-wrenching love, loss, rebellion, and fierce family dynamics is as gripping as it is poignant. The vivid portrayal of 19th-century Ireland, coupled with the heroine Ellen’s strength and vulnerability, makes this book impossible to put down. Each chapter brims with tension, from fierce sibling rivalries to shocking acts of betrayal and murder. The unexpected twist at the end is a masterstroke which will leave you reeling and eager for more. A beautifully written and deeply affecting story, a must-read for anyone who loves historical fiction packed with emotion, intrigue, and adventure. Here’s hoping for a sequel soon!
