“Out on Our Own” is a local history of the People and Places of old Annaly and Breifne. It consists of 512 pages including dozens of photos, illustrative tables & 32 full colour maps.
Benny Reid is a native of north County Longford, an educator, community leader and passionate local historian. A graduate of St. Patrick's College of Education and University College Galway, where he earned a masters in education. He taught for 30 years before establishing a successful mortgage brokerage in Aughnacliffe Co. Longford. Benny has also contributed to local and national education through roles on the County Longford Vocational Education Committee, Athlone Institute of Technology's Governing Body, the Council of CERT and the Senate of the National University of Ireland (1992-2012). A dedicated Gaeilgeoir and member of the Longford Historical Society and Cumann Seanchais Bhreifne, he has worked to preserve the rich heritage of his local community. He lives in County Longford with his wife, Catherine Keavney, proud parents of five and grandparents of ten
