The Adventures of Sammy the Cat and Dribs the Dog

(2 customer reviews)
@ Kevin Carroll

The Crowley family had two pets, a cat and a dog, named Sammy and Dribs. They had a happy life until one day Mr. Crowley lost his job. They were in danger of losing their home too. The family was devastated.
Sammy and Dribs determined to do something to help. They sought ideas from animal friends. Different suggestions they got led them to having amazing adventures, raising money and making lots of new friends.
The story has an Irish flavour to it with fairies, fairy forts, crocks of gold at the end of the rainbows and familiar Irish places.

Fantastic read and an engaging story for young readers. It is set in familiar Irish settings and locations, it is also intertwined with references to Irish Folklore and stories which adds a bit of magic. It is an exciting read from start to finish with many wonderful characters and descriptions which will ignite young imaginations. Overall, the message of the book is very positive, i.e. numerous different characters working together towards a common cause to help another out, at no personal gain to themselves, except that they have the joy of helping somebody in need.
