Kathleen Treacy is a writer and independent researcher of history, inspired by local heritage, folklore, and oral storytelling. Her long-standing interest in this area has come to fruition with her first book, The Roots of Rural Tuam. Kathleen was reared on a small farm in Brownsgrove, Tuam, as one of eight sisters and educated at Brownsgrove National School and the Presentation Convent, Tuam. She holds a Diploma in English Literature along with a Bachelor of Commerce Honours Degree from NUIG. Kathleen is a member of Tuam Creative Writers’ group and the Irish Writers Centre. She is currently working on a collection of short stories based on her experience of running a successful bridal boutique for over 32 years. She lives on the outskirts of Tuam with her husband, Tom Gilmore, and enjoys walking and listening to the sound of nature.
