The Watchman of Westport

Shelly O’Neill is a Graphic Designer and Illustrator from Westport, Co. Mayo. She graduated in Visual Communication from the National College of Art and Design, Dublin in 2002. As part of her final year Degree Exhibition, she designed and illustrated the first draft of ‘The Watchman of Westport’. She has been working in design for over twenty years and has many accolades but her true passion is illustration. In 2010, Shelly married Fearghal. They have two children, Ethan and Caoilainn – the characters in this book! Shelly spent much of her childhood in her grandparent’s house on High Street, Westport – right next to ‘The Clock’ tower. These early years gave inspiration for this story. She truly believed there was a giant living in ‘The Clock’. It would certainly explain the door at the back! Her grandparents’ house and her memories are real. The giant? … Well, do you believe?
