Sold by: PAUL MC DONNELL My name is Paul McDonnell, and I’m a professional songwriter and performer with over thirty years in the music industry. My book, Wise Ass, is a work of fiction inspired by my personal experiences and the places I’ve visited along the way.
One writer has compared “Wise Ass” to a modern twist on Some Like It Hot, and I believe it's humorous tone, engaging characters, and fast-paced narrative will appeal to readers who are looking for a break from the heaviness of life.
A fun, easy read with darker tones for fans of Richard Curtis, Kristen Wiig, Nick Hornby or Ricky Gervais.
What makes this book unique is the integration of music. These songs will help launch and sustain the book’s identity, and I am confident they will resonate with readers and listeners alike. Radio/TV interviews promoting this book could include live performances of songs from the book. Eg Superman(link attached).

Really enjoyed this one; funny, fast-paced, and just a great bit of craic to read. Highly recommend if you’re looking for something entertaining.

Wise Ass by Paul McDonnell is a highly enjoyable, funny and engaging book. The premise of the central character, Billy, becoming a tribute act to himself is unique and intriguing. It is hilariously absurd yet, because of the way McDonnell cleverly handles it, it is easy to suspend disbelief. The story is well paced and the sharp wit, conversational and personable style along with the tension all pull you in as you follow Billy’s journey of self-inflicted chaos. A truly memorable book that feels like it’s just waiting to be brought to life on screen!

I thoroughly enjoyed this well paced, light yarn about a country musician who gets mixed up with some dangerous people and decides to flee his old life. The plot is engaging, the characters appealing and it blends music, danger, love and friendship into an entertaining story. While Billy builds a new life, the past haunts him. He gave up so much. The question hangs over the story – will he finally return home to face the consequences of his hasty departure or can he keep running?
