James brings a fresh new northern voice to Irish Short Story telling. Long listed in RTE Guide/Penguin Short Story Competition he has been runner up in the Francis McManus and a finalist in the Irish Novel Fair. His work has been read on RTE and Radio Ulster. Smokes and Birds is a debut publication. His current project, a novel, aims to, ‘capture the colour, the humour, humanity and joy of Derry.’ Reared within sight of Harland and Wolff, he has also lived in Banbridge, Coleraine and Co Donegal. He spreads himself between N Antrim and Derry, the city of his adoption. He is married to bee keeper Jen, with three children, and two grandchildren. He holds an M.A. with distinction from Queen’s University.
