Alan Carroll

A native of Rathangan, Co. Kildare, Alan Carroll wound up a long career in social and public services to concentrate on writing. After completing the Certificate in Creative Writing in NUI Maynooth, Alan joined the Hedge School writers’ workshop in Moone, Co. Kildare where he learned his craft in a supportive, creative writing community.

A Place Like Home is Alan’s first published work. Set in the Kildare village of Poolabrone, these stories draw on the area’s heritage of farm, canal and bog and explore themes of family, displacement, rural isolation and the universal need for a place to call home.

Alan still lives near the canal, in Kilcock, Co. Kildare.
