Mary M. Trant

Mary M. Trant, a native of County Kerry, Ireland, has a deep connection to her rural roots, where she spent her early years within a tight knit farming community. For a child it was a place of unrestricted freedom and delight. However, a few years later a significant and life changing event, was the inspiration for this work of creative nonfiction.

In adult life and after taking a career break to focus on raising her children, Mary rediscovered her love for hand knitting. Since then, she has built a thriving business, creating high-end newborn baby outfits for professional photographers. Her exquisite creations have found homes across the globe, from the United Kingdom to the United States of America, New Zealand, and Australia.

Her debut book offers a captivating insight into some marvellous childhood adventures, while living between the mountains and the sea in Gorse Valley. Drawing on her intimate knowledge of rural life and lore, she weaves together tales of fairs, fairies and the Banshee in County Kerry, painting a vivid picture inspired by her early years.

Mary’s unique blend of firsthand experiences and creative talent seamlessly come together to create masterfully written tales of wonderful childhood days – peppered with laughter, and some sad moments – with every turn of the page.
