Deirdre McCarthy BSW, MSocSc, graduated with Bachelor of Social Work in 2015 from University College Cork with a First-Class Honour. From 2015 – 2021 Deirdre was employed by Tusla, the Child and Family Agency as a Child Protection Social Worker and high support foster carer. During this time Deirdre completed a Master of Social Science (Social Policy) specialising in children and young people. Deirdre graduated with a Second-Class Honour Grade 1 in 2021. Deirdre has completed numerous other training including Parents Plus: Parenting while Separated Programme, a Level 9 Certificate in Trauma Informed Care in UCC (2022) and Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy (2022). Deirdre currently operates as an independent social worker through Family3: Social Work and Family Consultancy assessing the Voice of the Child in custody and access cases. Deirdre has authored her first book to aid children to understand parental breakup, separation, and divorce in modern society.
