Seamus O'Dowd

Seamus O’Dowd is a native of Castlegregory Co. Kerry and now lives in Clonakilty, Co. Cork. He graduated from UCD with a degree in agriculture in 1976. He worked as an agricultural advisor with Clonaslee Co-Operative Society, An Comhairle Oiliona Talamhiochta and finally with Teagasc in Cork West. Throughout his career, he advised farmers operating dairy, beef, sheep, tillage and pig enterprises. In 2015, he retired from Teagasc, the state agency involved in the provision of agricultural advisory, research and education services in Ireland. He self-published ‘A Century of Sustainability in Irish Agriculture’ in 2023.
