Just a few months shy of his 86th birthday, John Kennedy launched his first book.

The book highlights the importance of passing on family history through his stories about growing up in a small country community in County Down, Northern Ireland, from 1937 to 1957 and beyond.📗

He shares local folklore in humorous tales about growing up in the hamlet of Glen, living in the Old Parochial House with his parents and ten siblings, leaving his beloved Ireland in the lean 1950s to seek his fortune abroad, and returning in 1970 with his new family to a more prosperous Ireland.🇮🇪

I may be biased as I am the author’s granddaughter, but I am so grateful to have this book and glad that others can read it too. It is full of warm and detailed stories about family, work, culture, home, and the things that make everyday life magical. I have read several of them out loud to friends who loved them too.

A heartwarming collection of short stories, beautifully written, taking the reader on the journey of a young man growing up in rural Northern Ireland. A sojourn in London with a few other stops, meeting colourful characters on the way , these stories take us up to the modern day . A delight to read.
